Yesterday, more than 50 TOP members woke up before dawn to make the trip to Austin to deliver your petition signatures to Gov. Greg Abbott asking him to meet with the Latino and immigrant families he’s hurting with his lawsuit to stop DAPA/DACA.
We rallied in front of the Governor’s Mansion and marched to the Capitol to deliver your petition to his office. You should’ve been there! The energy and urgency of our members made everyone around the Capitol stop and take notice. Even the media was impressed by our presence and message.
And we’re not stopping. We have to keep fighting; our families are on the line. Gov. Abbott wants to deport more mothers, fathers and students. He wants to separate families.
Just today he told Laura Ingraham, a super conservative talk show host, that he filed the lawsuit to stop DACA/DAPA because “once people get on the DACA or whatever, it’ll be more difficult to remove them.”
There you have the Republican Immigration Strategy – it’s all about deportations and ripping apart immigrant families.
Gov. Abbott needs to hear from even more Texans that we don’t want more children, mothers and fathers deported. Encourage your friends and family to sign our petition urging the governor to meet with Latino and immigrant families.
Next month, we’ll go back to Austin to deliver the new signatures. We’re not letting up till Gov. Abbott’s meets with us and drops the lawsuit. Si se puede!
